Azimut is enthused about its new 26.2m Azimut 80 motoryacht which will debut to American audiences at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. She originally launched in Italy at the end of May and is the first yacht over 72 feet designed entirely at Azimut’s Avigliana, Italy headquarters. The Azimut 80 won an award at the Cannes Boat Show 2013: “Most Functional Yacht from 24 to 40 Metres.”
Influenced by the experience Azimut has recently acquired in building some of their larger vessels, she boasts designs by Stefano Righini and interiors by Achille Salvagni Architetti. Wooden details in oak and dark walnut contrast with the varying shades of white and cream interiors. The semi-custom nature of the Azimut 800 allows for four different styles that range from classic to contemporary in both color and furniture arrangement.
She can accommodate eight guests in four staterooms, plus two crew. Azimut has created space in the 80 for a full-beam owner’s cabin with spa-like bathroom. A starboard cabin has two singles and possible third fold-down and bathroom ensuite. A guest cabin on the port side has a double bed. The VIP cabin further forward allows for beautiful panoramic views on both sides. Crew quarters are aft with two beds and a third currently under study. The motoryacht provides for ample light and panoramic vistas throughout, particularly in the master from five vertical windows.
The main deck beckons guests to gather and socialize with a beautiful, spacious teak-floored cockpit that can accommodate eight for dining. Further forward, the galley can be designed as open-space or enclosed. Guests and crew have separation created by a double access toward the interior and exterior of the galley. A day head on the main deck also contributes toward livability and functionality.
Although not yet on 26 North Yachts Top 10 Manufacturers’ List. Azimut has really expanded its range and collections (now at five) as of late to encompass vessels up to 120 feet. As 26 North Yachts focuses primarily on the 70’ to 140’ motoryacht range, we’re most interested in the Magellano Collection (modern Italian meets classic long range, 43’ to 76’), Flybridge (classic flybridge planing model, 40’ to 100’), S (fast open line, 40’ to 86’) and Grande (customizable in excess of 100’). Azimut Yachts is part of the Azimut | Benetti Group.
Azimut has recently launched a new marketing strategy of “Made in Italy” to focus on their Italian ownership, craftsmanship, design and yacht production in Avigliana and Viareggio. Azimut has also invested 29 million Euros (almost $40 million USD) for three years to focus on research and development, technology and new software management systems that will enhance their production, profitability and quality.
Azimut notes that being Italian proudly reflects “the cultural roots of the most beautiful country in the world, one built on a tradition of passion, creativity, a love for beauty and … the starting point for the construction of beautiful and innovative yachts loved by owners throughout the five continents.” Azimut|Benetti Group Marketing Director Francesco Ansalone added that being Italian is the real secret that has propelled Azimut Yachts to be a leading yacht builder.
