Luxury motor yacht builders at the top of their game are busy crowing about the recently released ShowBoats International Global Order Book 2014. Well-known Italian world giant Azimut | Benetti is no exception with as many as 79 megayachts under construction. For the 14th time, Azimut | Benetti has topped the book which ranks the top 20 international builders of superyachts based on actual orders. The group has numbers (almost double the runner up) and average size on its side—122 feet on average—a sign of significant production capacity. Benetti ranked first in the custom-designed megayachts category for the 15th time. The group overall has been busy in many key areas, developing new boats, improving existing ones and strengthening a sales and support network, all while providing attentive customer service.
26 North Yachts has named Benetti on its prestigious Top 10 Motoryacht Builders List for impeccable Italian styling and design. They’re one of the oldest and most respected motoryacht shipyards on the planet, balancing technological innovation with European styling and panache.
“Although the top five rankings have changed little in recent years,” said Ferruccio Luppi, CEO of Azimut|Benetti, “these results should not be taken for granted. We are extremely proud of our success, especially in these difficult times. Today more than ever before, these results confirm our daring yet cautious growth strategy, which has been strongly championed by our president, Paolo Vitelli.”
In other news, Benetti recently launched SOY AMOR, its third Crystal 140’. Stefano Righini provided the exterior concept and design, and Benetti’s own talented technical department expertly handled the contemporary interiors. Those lucky to board will ‘ooh’ and ‘ah’ over a backlit marble waterfall in the main foyer, a fireplace in the upper salon and an innovative garage with side door amidships that gives more space for the beach club astern. SOY AMOR accommodates 10 guests in five cabins and up to nine crew. She is ABS classed and MCA compliant. Maximum speeds of 15 knots and cruising speeds of 14 knots come courtesy of twin Caterpillar C32 Acert engines. At 12 knots, her range is 4,000 nautical miles.
Benetti also launched its seventh Delfino 93 in November, ZEHAVA, to be delivered in April 2014 and remain in the Med. Termed by Benetti as “the jewel of the Class range”, the Delfino 93 series retains key features of the line while adding unique elements, including custom interiors. The exterior concept and design are also by Stefano Righini, but the owner on this Delfino 93 jumped in on the interiors, working closely with Benetti’s technical team throughout the design phases. The owner has left his touch on the sundeck, in particular, that’s equipped with a large, theatrical mosaic Jacuzzi tub that accommodates up to five people. ZEHAVA will generously accommodate 10 guests in five cabins with room for crew as well. Twin MTU 8V200 M72 (720kW)’s power her to reach max speeds of 14 knots.
Viareggio is celebrating the arrival of the first hull F-125 of the Fast Displacement line in late November. With her new design unveiled at Cannes in September, she’s scheduled for delivery in June 2015. The F-125 is the answer to yachts that are fast when needed but also offer comfort in displacement mode. Benetti has made this possible through the innovative D2P_Displacement to Planing keel that combines the performance of a planing keel with the comfort and quiet of a displacement one.
