Fresh from Bilgin Shipyards’ home base in Istanbul, Turkey, 26 North Yachts was particularly charmed with the impressive 2012, Bilgin 160 Classic luxury motoryacht M&M. She debuted at the Festival de la Plaisance (Cannes Yachting Festival) and subsequently won a 2012 Best Custom Design Award (up to 50 meters). A fifth-generation family business building luxury yachts for more than 75 years, Bilgin has recently announced major changes that capitalize on their extensive experience in shipbuilding.
Bilgin Shipyards’ diversity of build is noteworthy, constructing motoryachts up to 262’ in steel, aluminum and wood composite with cold molded techniques. They even construct stainless steel accessories and equipment such as external doors, cranes, rope leads, deck railings and hydraulic systems. A joinery furniture factory manufactures the finest pieces in quality finishes. High degrees of customization are reflected in every build, in the individualized interiors and unique, exterior designs.
A classic, displacement megayacht with nods to a glorified age of luxury yachting, M&M’s steel-hulled, composite superstructure and bulbous bow sport traditional navy and white finishes and ample teak throughout for an elegant, timeless look with all of the modern amenities. She is packed with personality! The popular al fresco aft deck is open and comfortable with its oval dining area centerpiece; large, fixed sofas and movable seating. The comfort carries into the main saloon with plush furnishings, lush red velvet curtains, exquisite woodwork and soothing accent lighting. The formal, oval-shaped dining area for 10 is situated forward.
Forward of the central lobby and accessed through a private office and wardrobe, the spacious owner’s suite offers dramatic panoramic views of the passing sea or ports of call. Design touches reflect the classic nature of the vessel, without feeling overly formal. The owner’s bath features a large shower and bathtub, his and hers sinks, a toilet and bidet, all complemented by marble and other natural materials.
Belowdecks M&M has five additional suites naturally brightened by portholes (she’ll accommodate a total of 12 guests). The full beam VIP contains an office and lounge area, in addition to a large bath. The remaining suites are configured with two twins and two doubles. Crew is accommodated in four cabins with a total of eight berths.
An upper skylounge saloon on the bridge deck with expansive opening doors to the aft deck offers yet another option for entertaining or relaxing and is styled more contemporarily with its large sofa and armchairs. Perhaps M&M’s most popular gathering spot, the aft deck on this level features design and furnishings reminiscent of the 1970s with sofas and armchairs in the shade and sunpads aft. Stairs here lead up one more level to an open-air sun deck with sun loungers and amazing 360-degree views. Outfitted in red, white and blue accents, a vista-filled foredeck forward of the helm is outfitted with a secluded lounge area with sofas and accent tables.

Twin MAN 707hp engines (1,000 hours) power M&M to top speeds of 13 knots and cruising speeds of near 11 knots. She has a 28’ beam and a 7’3’ maximum draft. Long-range comfort and safety are ensured through her RINA and commercial certifications.
Bilgin recently announced major company changes set to maximize their extensive, in-depth knowledge of their own products. Bilgin’s sales and marketing operations have been enhanced, and they engaged a new in-house designer to create exciting new designs from their impressive new facilities at the Istanbul yard. Bilgin has launched more than 50 motoryachts in the last 45 years, and they have several yachts under construction: a sister 160, a semi-displacement 147 and a 164. New projects include a 156, a 170 and a 214.
