In November of 2015 to the delight of many attendees of the Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show, Hatteras Yachts President & CEO John Ward announced that the renowned motor yacht builder would be adding a new 90-foot model to their line-up.
Just before the end of the year in December, the company released a production update on the Hatteras 90, indicating construction of the much anticipated yacht was well under way.
According to the December progress report, the hull was already in the process of being laid up, utilizing Hatteras’ proprietary “resin infusion process.” At the time, David Willoughby, Hatteras Yachts’ senior design engineer, added that: “The superstructure tooling is almost complete and the flybridge is being cut.” The construction of the 90 is being done at Hatteras’ New Bern, North Carolina shipyard.
In a company press release, Willoughby went on to say, “the rest of the yacht is still in the full throes of the design phase. We’ve already done a competitive product analysis to make sure that we are meeting or exceeding what other builders are producing in this size range.”
According to the company the first 90 Motor Yacht, is due to launch in early 2017, and they are well on the way to meeting that goal. The first Hatteras 90 will be a standard Open Flybridge model – it will also be available with an Enclosed Flybridge.
More About the New Hatteras 90 Motor Yacht
The Hatteras 90 motor yacht is steeped in the DNA of the yacht builder, but according to Willoughby, she also represents the new style, creativity, and direction of the Hatteras brand.
The Hatteras 90 exterior profile takes its visual cues from the Hatteras 70 Motor Yacht and 100 Raised Pilothouse.
