Netherlands-based luxury yacht manufacturer Heesen Yachts announced the launch of the fully customized 167’ MY SKY (16551) earlier this year. While not on the 26 North Top 10 Yachting Manufacturers List, Heesen is still a solid build, and a handful of their models fit our specialty range of luxury motoryachts in the 70’ to 140’ range. MY SKY features a striking exterior by naval architect Frank Laupman of Omega Naval Architects and a sophisticated, yet ultra-contemporary interior by Erick van Egeraat. Designers created a continuous wall of glass with flush mounted tinted windows that were thermo bonded to the superstructure for a dramatic aesthetic appeal. Other touches include strongly contrasting lightness and darkness; stark white leather and dark, high-gloss Makassar wood; natural stone inlays; and patterned back-lit white onyx in a black marble base.
It’s all about entertaining on the water, and Heesen’s touches on MY SKY will ensure endless memorable moments at sea with family and friends, starting with the large, circular dining arrangement, lounge and bar area in the main saloon aft. Al fresco on the main deck aft, guests will enjoy built-in settees and seating around a pair of low coffee tables. More indulgence with a 270-degree view awaits a few steps up in the upper deck lounge with more circular seating conducive to socializing. The aft terrace contains yet another spectacular dining area, and a sundeck boasts an oversized jet tub ensconced by sun pads.

In a small shipyard in the Netherlands, Heesen Yachts got its start in 1978, quickly coming into their own as an international leader in the custom luxury motoryacht market. Heesen made a name for themselves in particular with the launch of OCTOPUSSY in 1988. Heesen was challenged to come up with a 40-meter (131’) motor yacht that could do more than 50 knots. Heesen succeeded, ultimately creating the fastest diesel-driven motoryacht in the world at the time with top speeds of 53. 17 knots.
Leaders in innovation, Heesen prides themselves on delivering comfortable, custom and semi-custom yachts with one key principle in mind: the Performance of Luxury. This is reflected in their commanding and unique lines, state-of-the-art technology, every imaginable luxury and fine Dutch craftsmanship. More than 100 vessels are in the fleet, and they range from 115’ to 213’ in various displacement, semi-displacement and performance builds.
