Miami Yacht and Brokerage Show 2014 Rundown Part II

We continue our Miami Yacht & Brokerage Show 2014 rundown in Part II. Click here if you missed Part I. The show runs Feb. 13 to 17. 26 North Yachts has a keen eye on several displays (there are more than 500 new and brokerage yachts, 60 of them over 100’), including those manufacturers in our Top 10 list that fall in our specialty area of 70’ to 140’. Here’s a rundown of some of those and a few others.

Outer Reef

One of 26 North Yachts’ favorites—they’re on our Top 10 ListOuter Reef will represent a strong showing with a 630, a 700 and 860 TI PUNCH.  Outer Reef Yachts offers semi-custom, turnkey luxury builds of long range motoryachts from 56’ to 115’. Outer Reefs are built to open ocean, category A standards, unrestricted navigation, and the shipyard is ISO 9001 certified.

With an open cockpit, handy swim platform and padded seat forward of the pilothouse, the Outer Reef 630 is geared for sun lovers. Her perks don’t stop there. Her design has carefully considered the cruising couple who want to run the vessel independently. She’s primed for comfort—even at max speed of about 15 knots, she doesn’t exceed 68 decibels in the pilothouse.

Fresh off the 2014 Motor Boat Award for “Trawler Yachts and Aft Cabin,” the Outer Reef 700 MotorYacht (actually 71’6”) feels much bigger than her size. She’s easily able to accommodate a 20’ tender on the boat deck, and her outdoor entertainment area includes dual settees with tables, sink, grill, refrigerator and generous storage. She’s been described as a true bluewater cruiser with excellent fuel economy and long range capability.

26 North’s brokers have managed 860 TI PUNCH since its inception, from connecting the owner and the yard to sea trials in Taiwan to her final outfitting in Florida. During construction in Taiwan, the owner pushed the yard for a lot of customization on his 860 Cockpit series yacht, particularly on a modern interior by Destiny Darr Designs. Teak, beechwood and American walnut fill the interior. Custom furniture is being installed throughout.

Horizon Yachts

Offering high quality, semi-custom yachts from its state-of-the-art facility in Taiwan, Horizon Yachts is one of the tenth largest yacht builders in the world. They’ll display a superyacht E88, motoryacht E56 and two power cats: the PC60 open bridge yacht OHANA and a PC60 skylounge version.  Horizon is a popular and prolific builder on 26 North Yachts’ Top 10 manufacturers list.

Horizon’s E88 boasts four guest staterooms within her 21’ beam plus crew quarters. Pure elegance is carried throughout the formal dining area, country kitchen and two day heads. The E56 makes an ideal islands boat with a shallow 4’9” draft, easy operation and maneuverability. Despite her smaller size, she still features three staterooms with a full-beam master.

Westport

Even though she’s been around for awhile—2001 was her introduction to Fort Lauderdale—the latest Westport 130 (40 meters) builds on a solid reputation of quality, luxury and comfort yet with updated styling. Low maintenance design and one-piece, precision deck molds are Westport’s hallmarks. In the 130, five staterooms include an on-deck master. Expansive deck areas make for enjoyable extended cruising. Westport remains firmly ensconced on our Top 10 Manufacturers List.
