Ocean Alexander 100 to Debut at 2014 Fort Lauderdale Boat Show

One of 26 North Yachts’ most respected builders—in fact they’re on our Top 10 Motoryacht Builders List—Ocean Alexander is giving us one more reason to start marking days off until the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. They’re debuting a 100’ luxury motoryacht designed by Evan K. Marshall! The Ocean Alexander 100 offers the benefits and features of a large megayacht but within a smaller footprint that offers more flexibility in docking and cruising. The Ocean Alexander 100 will hopefully enjoy great success as it expands upon the well-known and successful 90’ model.

Richard Allender, director of US Operations for Ocean Alexander, expressed his confidence that the Ocean Alexander 100 will be well received, following the momentum of three new Ocean Alexander 90 yacht sales just in the first quarter of 2014. “Several clients have approached us for something new in this size due to limits in dock space, cruising needs or a variety of other reasons. This new OA 100 will provide those customers with luxuries usually found on larger megayachts while allowing them to keep the yacht in more convenient locations,” said Allender.

With ensuite accommodations for eight in four staterooms, interiors will reflect a full-beam master stateroom with his and hers master heads, a forward VIP suite with a great amount of storage and hanging locker space, and two, twin guest cabins between the master and the VIP that can convert to queens.

Formal dining will accommodate eight in a spacious salon that opens aft without interruption to the main salon. As far as guest conveniences on the main deck level, Ocean Alexander has thoughtfully included a wet bar in the salon and a day head for ease and accessibility. The country-styled galley that Ocean Alexanders love, we understand, continues to stand out from those in comparable vessels. Travel forward of the galley, and a large settee area for casual dining or relaxing reveals itself. Crew will be satisfied with ample quarters aft and well thought out storage opportunities throughout.

Clients can choose either an open flybridge arrangement or an enclosed sky lounge. The flybridge with partially covered sundeck will, of course, offer the most open deck area for lounging, entertaining and storing tenders and toys. However, the enclosed skylounge adds a legitimate second salon space with another wet bar and day head.

Power on the Ocean Alexander 100 will come from twin CAT C-32 ACERT (1925hp) diesel engines. Her all-fiberglass hull will conveniently draw between 5’6” at lighter loads to 6’5” fully loaded. Her beam will measure 23’.

Ocean Alexander is known for their quality North American design and engineering and fine Asian manufacturing. Their yachts boast exquisite interior layouts paired with fine materials and sleek, modern hulls. Based in Kaoushiung, Taiwan, and in the US, Ocean Alexander’s top-notch manufacturing operations are guided by two generations of one family over the past 35 years. Last year, Ocean Alexander made news when they expressed plans to expand their Taiwan-based manufacturing facility to meet an increased demand for larger-sized yachts and to close their China-based yard and consolidate experienced personnel into just one yard. Construction to double their current capacity will be complete sometime next year (2015). Ocean Alexander said that their building capacity will allow them to expand from up to 12 yachts in the 72’ to 90’ range per year to 25 per year up to 155’.

See you on board in October!
