Outer Reef Ti Punch arrives Stateside

The 86-foot Outer Reef Ti Punch has just arrived in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. 26 North’s brokers have managed the project since its inception, from connecting the owner and the yard to sea trials in Taiwan to her final outfitting in Florida, and now the yacht is one short month away from delivery.

During construction in Taiwan, the owner pushed the yard for a lot of customization on his 860 Cockpit series yacht, particularly on the interior. Destiny Darr Designs created a modern interior unlike a classic Outer Reef. Instead of teak, beechwood and American walnut fill the interior. Custom furniture is being installed throughout.

Nicholas Scherb, co-founder and broker at 26 North, says during her sea trials in Taiwan Ti Punch performed flawlessly. “She ran quiet with very little vibration,” he recounts. “I was just on her while she was running off the generator, and she was silent then too.”

After a nearly two-month passage aboard a yacht transport ship, Ti Punch is docked in Marina Bay. The trawler is currently going through final system checks to ensure nothing was rattled during transport. Carpets are being installed. Electronics are being wired in. Soft goods are being loaded in. TVs are being placed. (Although with the generous amount of outdoor space, those will probably be reserved for those unfortunate cloudy days.)

Every detail is being checked and double-checked before delivery to the owner within the next month. With room to sleep six in three cabins, the owner will be able to cruise with those nearest and dearest to him. In addition, there are crew quarters for two, including the captain who has worked with the owner on previous vessels.

As in cruising as in boatbuilding, it’s often about the journey. After patiently waiting through the build process, Ti Punch’s owner can set off on the more enjoyable journey — the part that’s out on the water.
