UK-based luxury motoryacht builder Sunseeker Yachts has been on the move adding a few more models into the range that 26 North Yachts follows—70’ to 140’. While they still have quite a bit of product out of that range, a few recently have shown up on our “niche radar”.
The new Sunseeker 86 motoryacht is due for launch at the Sunseeker International shipyard in April 2014. Sunseeker calls it a “seductive combination of style and exclusivity“. The Sunseeker look is iconic, and it is preserved in the sleek exterior styling of the Sunseeker 86. Those who have seen the vessel recently note that the saloon and galley areas have been built as well as the lower deck cabins. The main saloon is outfitted with the latest technology and boasts openness and streaming natural light that spotlights the exquisite hand-finished furnishings. Custom options include a hot tub on the flybridge, day head, open galley, fixed dinette seating, VIP suite and a choice of layouts that will complement either charter or personal use (or both).
In addition, a state-of-the-art model has been assisting the talented design team in making structural improvements to ensure differentiation from other similar models on the market, like a bulwark fold-down balcony, innovative interior architecture and four, amply-sized en suite staterooms. In this 86, Sunseeker has introduced a new hull form for better displacement speeds and a range of 1,500 nautical miles. With a top speed of approximately 30 knots, the Sunseeker 86 is sure to deliver exhilarating open-air rides from the flybridge or more sedate cruising from choice seating areas throughout the vessel, including the bow which has a lounging area that includes a large sunpad and U-shaped seating with a table. Her beam measures 21’, and she draws 5’7”.
Sunseeker also recently premiered a 28-metre motoryacht (almost 92’) at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (she originally launched in 2012). She was named the Best Custom Yacht in The Motor Boat of the Year Awards 2013 as determined by the editorial team at Motor Boats Monthly and Motor Boat & Yachting magazines. Sunseeker was the first British manufacturer to ever win the title. The judging panel commented, “The Sunseeker 28 Metre Yacht combines dramatic new looks with high-tech materials, strong performance, eye catching features and great livability…”
The Sunseeker 28 Metre features the most modern materials in design and engineering and revolutionizes space configurations, maximizing full height and wrap-around glazing that reflect in the exteriors and interiors. Her vast saloon will easily accommodate the hustle and bustle of yacht living and relaxation as well. Up to eight guests and four crew will rest comfortably in a range of cabin plans. Her max speed is around 29 knots, and she has a range of 400 nautical miles.
Located in Poole, England, Sunseeker Yachts (formerly known as Poole Powerboats) was established in 1960 and began manufacturing under the Sunseeker name in the ‘80s. Although they got their start building plywood dinghies, they now specialize in fiberglass motoryachts and express yachts. Their vessels range from 53’ to the new tri-deck flagship at 155’ launching in summer of 2014.
