In a world of superyachts, each one trying to be more spectacular then the next, there has to be one that emerges as the most “super.” For now, that distinction is held by Eclipse, which with her 12 billion dollar price tag, is currently the most expensive superyacht in the world.
The owner of this incredible yacht is well-known Russian billionaire, entrepreneur, and pro sports team owner, Roman Abramovich. Abramovich has been the owner of this literal “dreamboat” since 2010. Besides its spectacular length, clocking in at over 520 feet, she is made of a unique combination of steel and aluminum.
Other Features of Roman Abramovich’s Superyacht Eclipse
Of course a yacht of this size, with an owner of similar magnitude, has room for the ultimate in water toys. There are expansive spaces that can accommodate not one, but three helicopters, multiple tenders, and even a private submarine, capable of reaching depths of over 160 feet!
So what exactly does 12 billion dollars get you? Eclipse can accommodate over 30 guests, and 92 crew members, the Master Suite alone is over 5000 square feet! She has nine decks, an enormous swimming pool that can be converted into a ballroom dancefloor, and is equipped with all the latest technology and safety systems, including an anti-ballistic missile defense shield!
She is outfitted with the latest propulsion technology, featuring four MTU 20V 1163 TB93 marine diesel engines, which delivers a maximum speed of 25 knots and a cruise speed of 22 knots, very impressive for a yacht of this size and weight.
Eclipse was built by Hamburg based Blohm + Voss Shipyards.
Other Unique Luxury Motor Yachts
As of now, Abramovich has expressed no interest in selling Eclipse, apparently very happy to now own the largest, and most expensive superyacht in the world. However, we do have some of the most unique superyachts on the planet available in our broker’s inventory. For example, take a look at this breathtaking offering from Oceanco, the Helios, a 193ft Oceanco luxury yacht, or Enigma, an incredible 244ft superyacht, built by Blohm + Voss, the same yard that delivered Eclipse.
And, if an amazing superyacht is not in your immediate future, we can certainly help with some “super deals,” on some smaller, but equally remarkable motor yachts in the 70 – 140 foot range!
