The prestigious Monaco Yacht Show (MYS) has passed, leaving in its wake, thousands of awe inspired guests and at least three standout superyachts.
At a special invitation only ceremony, 400 VIPs from the superyacht industry attended a gala awards ceremony, honoring three superyachts that were being exhibited during the three day event, which ran from Wednesday 9/27 and continued through Saturday 9/30.
MYS is generally recognized as one of the world’s premier yachting events. It is 4 days of superyachts, beautiful people, and cocktail parties, and this year there was a greater emphasis on attracting potential owners of superyachts. Every year, the MYS is home to the exhibition of over 125 extraordinary one-off superyachts, built by the world’s most respected shipyards, and welcomes over 590 leading companies from the yachting industry. According to an event Press Release, three of those were honored at the special awards ceremony.
The Superyacht Home was the winner of the 2017 MYS/RINA Award. The Italian yacht classification company RINA, recognizes the “most environmentally friendly,” yacht exhibited each year at MYS. This year that distinction went to Heesen Yachts’ Home. Arthur Brouwer, CEO of Heesen Yachts, and Perry Van Oossanen, naval architect of Home, received the trophy from Ugo Salerno, President and CEO of the RINA. The evening ceremony also highlighted a decade of recognized expertise in superyacht classification of RINA, who celebrates its 10th anniversary this year.
The superyacht, Seven Sins, was the winner of the 2017 MYS Interior Design Award. Designed by Officina Italiana Design Sanlorenzo, Seven Sins combines refined elegance with the latest technical innovation in only 500 tons. Sanlorenzo’s new flagship makes its world debut at the 2017 MYS, highlighting the Italian yard’s experience in luxury yacht builds.
Double honors were bestowed on Oceanco’s latest superyacht project, Jubilee, which received both the 2017 MYS Exterior Design Award and the 2017 MYS Finest New Superyacht Award. She recived both awards for her “refined work on the aesthetics of her exterior shapes and interior design,” and for “her high technical and state-of-the-art performances.” Captain Roy Dance, on behalf of the Owner, Paris Baloumis, Group Marketing Manager at Oceanco, Rupert Nelson, Director at Burgess and the Owner’s Representative, Igor Lobanov (Exterior Designer) and Sam Sorgiovanni (Interior Designer) received the trophies during the climax of the exclusive award ceremonies.
