About Christensen Shipyards

Founder of Christensen Yachts, Dave Christensen came into the business in the mid-1980s after he had commissioned his own various custom yachts that became sought after by others. He opened a factory on the Columbia River to construct the fleet which now ranges from 115 feet to 155 feet, built in compliance with the American Bureau of Shipping and the U.K. Maritime and Coastguard Agency classification standards. Adhering to strict, high manufacturing standards, Christensen builds cored composite yachts in a sandwich method of uncompromising quality and beauty.  This foam cored structure of their FRP construction reduces both noise and vibration. Modern interior design and detailed woodwork are hallmarks of a Christensen, and their luxury motoryachts are true, deep-water, transoceanic voyagers.

Located in Vancouver, Washington, USA, Christensen Shipyards’ state-of-the-art facility contains 12 large manufacturing and assembly bays, one which houses the expandable molds for hulls from 100 to 165 feet. Christensen recently added a marble shop, one of the last outsourced crafts outside the famed shipyard.  Having done well in the domestic American market, Christensen is poised to take its brand further into international markets. Well known Christensens include the award-winning 2004 “Thomas Spirit,” award-winning 160-foot “Odessa,” 163-foot “Casino Royale,” and 162-foot “Remember When.”

Christensen offers their Custom Series in 43m (141 feet), 49m (160 feet), and 50m (164 feet).  Advanced in their construction timing, these turn-key vessels are usually available to eager owners in a shorter period of time, even with customization. Their exterior styling features a raised forward full-shear bulwark and vertical pilothouse windows. They are certified in both ABSXA1-AMS and MCA classifications – unlimited cruising. The Custom Series includes but is not limited to all décor, MCA outfitting, tenders, entertainment systems, appliances, and navigation equipment. In 2012, Christensen plans to deliver its 49-meter Custom Series motoryacht to a repeat client.  The Christensen 49m Custom Series includes a customary main-deck master and five staterooms below, as well as touch-and-go helicopter pad.
