About CMN Yachts

Based in France, CMN (Constructions Mécaniques de Normandie) got its start in 1912 in aircraft design and production which gave way to shipbuilding for both commercial and military applications. CMN turned to the yachting market in the 1960s with a series of sailing boats, and racing projects in the ‘70s and ’80s. In the 1990s, they pushed past 140 feet with schooner “Friday Star” and an expedition yacht “French Look II.”

Today, they construct exceptionally engineered luxury yachts and navy ships with expertise built on over 350 launched vessels in wood, aluminum, steel, and advanced composite materials. CMN employs the highly sophisticated computer assisted design CATIA for their modern designs, enabling them to maintain a high standard of hull construction. A subsidiary, CMN-JMV develops epoxy carbon composite construction for high tech sailing vessels and multihulls, including “Banque Populaire V,” at 40 meters (131 feet), the world’s largest and fastest sailing trimaran to date.

Well-known CMNs include Atlantic record holder, 140-foot racing yacht “Mari-Cha IV”, luxury 105-foot cat “Lady Barbaretta,” and motoryachts “Netanya 8” and “Cloud 9” from the CMN Line 60 with its sea-kindly, high volume hull suited to custom modifications. They have also launched 49-meter (161 feet) motoryacht “Bermie II” and sailing yacht 32-meter (105 feet) “Attimo.”
