Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show 2014 Line Up – PART I
South Florida just got its first “cold front” (we use the term lightly) which signals our favorite show of the year in our own backyard—the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. Our pulse quickens every time we top the Las Olas Boulevard bridge over the Intracoastal Waterway and see the docks crawling away from Bahia Mar, a mini nautical city being erected before our very eyes! Here’s a two-part line-up of some must-see yachts in our specialty range of 70’-140’ from the 26 North Yachts’ Top Yachting Manufacturers List. And, you won’t want to miss some other yachts we’ve singled out like the U.S. debut of the Dyna 60 Flybridge, two Zeelander 44s, a Zeelander 68 and an Oceanfast 123. Come on board!
Westport will have two luxury motoryachts in the show this year that we’ve got our eyes on—the Westport 112 (2014) LYON PRIDE and the Westport 40M (130’). Westport offers performance-bred motoryachts that are light, fast and fuel-efficient with excellent structural integrity. The semi-displacement Westport 112 has been a very successful and popular model for the company to the tune of about three deliveries per year! The classic, American-styled Westport 112 offers a fast cruise at 25 knots max thanks to twin MTU 16V 2000s and a shallow draft of 5’6”—attractive features for accessing many locales around the world. Some customization in décor, interior options and layouts is allowed. The tri-deck Westport 40M boasts exceptional luxury, low maintenance, convenience, reliability and performance. The vessel sleeps 10 in five staterooms, including the on-deck master. Her twin MTU12V4000s power her to max speeds of 24 knots and cruising speeds of 20 knots. Her beam measures 26’ and she draws 6’6”.
Horizon Yachts is showcasing the Horizon E88 MISSING CARD III. She was one of four Horizon E88s sold in the U.S. over the summer. She’s the first Horizon E88 motoryacht in the U.S. market to feature a beach club aft. Her three staterooms include a luxurious master. A seating area and bar on the aft flybridge come as options as well as a desk in the pilothouse. She’s powered by twin MAN V12 @ 1550hp engines.
We recently covered Hargrave Custom Yachts’ line up that will include 125’ 2013 GIGI II, 101’ 2014 SASSY, 76’ 2013 VICTORIANO , 94’ 2014 ADVENTURE US II and a 76’ 2015 new yacht.
Always out to make a splash, Hatteras makes no exception at this year’s show with a 100 RPH, an 80 MY and 70 GT Convertible. We’ve certainly kept a fond eye on the Hatteras 100 RPH that displays exquisite craftsmanship, fine furnishings and abundant on-board entertaining spaces. Eight guests will enjoy a full-beam master amidships, VIP and two twin cabins on the lower deck, although Hatteras is now offering an optional on-deck master in lieu of the large, country-style galley. Her draft is 5’11” which will yield access to a wide array of great ports of call. She’s powered by twin CAT C-32 engines each with 1,900hp for 25-knot top speeds and 19-knot cruising speeds for a 680nm range. The Hatteras GT70 will be sure to draw curious crowds for her show debut, a perfect blend of both classic and modern elements powered by upgraded 2600BHP MTU engines (CAT C-32A 1900hps come standard). Contemporary designs with custom furnishings are evident throughout her shared spaces as well as the five staterooms. She’s outfitted for fishing or cruising.
But wait! There’s more! See Part II in this series.
