Lürssen’s Impressive Project Redwood on Track for 2019 Delivery

German based Lürssen Yachts is known for having built some of the largest, and most recognizable superyachts currently cruising the seas. Lürssen’s flagship, the superyacht Azzam, currently holds the title of the largest superyacht in the world. In the last few years, the German yacht builder has announced several project that rival Azzam, if not in size, but in spectacular amenities and design elements that take even superyachts to another level.

As we reported earlier this year, their latest build, Thunder, has carried out her first successful sea trials off the coast of Germany, and is still expected to launch this year.

Now, some new information has been released about, Project Redwood, another highly anticipated build from Lürssen.

Unique Features of this Superyacht from Lürssen

You have heard of megayachts, and superyachts, Redwood has been rightfully referred to as a “gigayacht.” After all what would you call a 456 foot yacht that has not one. But two helipads for simultaneously landing helicopters in different deck locations, and a veritable “fleet,” of onboard tenders and secondary boats, that is also supersized compared to most superyachts, including several that are 50 feet long!

The builders had not released much about Project Redwood, since the concept was announced in 2015. With two years to go before its anticipated 2019 launch, design firm Nuvolari-Lenard has released some new details about her. We now know that despite her name, she will be a steel-hulled vessel with an aluminum superstructure, which is designed to accommodate 36 guests across 20 staterooms.

Nuvolari-Lenard, which did both the interior and exterior designs, also confirms that she will have a large spa, and a watersports and diving center on the lower decks within close proximity to the water. A large swimming pool, partially covered for all-weather use, is yet another standout feature on the yacht. The owner intends to use the vessel for long-range cruising, so the hull was designed for efficiency. The designers added that the boat will be able to undertake “independent global exploration.”

Once launched, Redwood will likely take her position among the top ten superyachts in the world, several spots on which are already held by Lürssen Yachts.
