In 1985, California industrialist Tom Van Rijn created Monte Finoâ (now Monte Fino) with two, 52-foot aft cabin motoryachts produced at the Kha Shing Yard in Taiwan. He saw a need for well-designed motoryachts capable of remote cruising in Alaskan and Mexican waters. Today, over 1,000 Monte Finos have launched from Kha Shing, offering low cost, high value, and a high degree of customization without compromising on craftsmanship, finish, and customer satisfaction. Recent investments in Kha Shing means that Monte Finos can now be built over 131 feet. In 2011, Fort Lauderdale yachting industry executive Michael Joyce (also chairman/CEO of Hargrave Custom Yachts) became the United States representative for Monte Fino Custom Yachts, Inc., the exclusive North and South America distributor for Monte Fino luxury custom and semi-custom motoryachts.
Monte Fino creations motoryachts designed with high volume, innovative space planning, and a contemporary appearance. The wide beam and well-developed spaces allow for a much larger volume than other yachts in their range. Monte Fino’s affiliation with Humphreys Yacht Design (HYD) in the UK has led to the redesign of a number of their leading models, in addition to designs of new models. US-based designer Ward Setzer has also been engaged.
Monte Fino offers luxury motoryachts ranging from 70 to 122 feet in flybridge and sport versions, in addition to their custom creations. Humphreys assisted in the redesign of the MF 76 with its spacious and light interiors, more modern and curvy exterior, including an optional arch sweep over the flybridge for sun protection. In 2009, Monte Fino launched their tri-deck flagship at 122 feet and in 2010 offered the new MF 100 with on-deck master and custom interiors. The new sporty MFS range (MFS 62 and MFS 112) developed by Setzer Design Group offers exceptional performance as well as an aggressive and sleek exterior. In 2012, Monte Fino expects to deliver the new 100-foot ecHo—the 85 ecHo has already launched—offering the next generation of engines, equipment, technology, and eco-friendliness. Other models include the MF 70, MF 82, MF 85, MF 96, and 100 RPH.”
