As the yachting industry goes through another successful year, major shipyards are riding the wave of affluent buyers looking for cutting-edge yachting technology. Here are top picks by 26northyachts from the lineup of innovative new vessel designs coming to Cannes 2022.

1. AZIMUT GRANDE 36M

AZIMUT GRANDE 36M - Cannes 2022

This year, Azimut presents its revolutionary Grande 36M superyacht built to “evoke a feeling of being completely immersed in nature.” For the first time, the new 116-foot Italian yacht will be equipped with a single-level walkaround upper deck that runs continuously from bow to tip.

This ingenious architectural solution will create a single physical space, offering unprecedented freedom of movement on board the superyacht. Azimut’s signature full-height windows in the sky lounge with an all-glass hot tub further merge the exterior and interior space, increasing your proximity to the water. With its D2P® (Displacement to Planing) hull constructed out of GRP and optimized wave piercer, the Azimut Grande 36M is expected to have increased fuel efficiency and enhanced nautical performance.

2. GRAND BANKS 85

GRAND BANKS 85 - Cannes 2022

In Cannes 2022, Grand Banks is making their European debut with the newly released 85-foot flagship. It capitalizes on the success of the brand’s proprietary V-Warp® hull technology, inspired by NASA and U.S. Navy analysis of waveforms. The GB85 comes with a serious claim of requiring half the horsepower to achieve the same performance and half the fuel of any other 85-foot rival, and capable of extended cruising at 21 knots.

Designed as a true blue-water yacht, GB85 is also suited for coastal cruising thanks to its shallow draft. The vessel is available in both enclosed and open flybridge formats and offers space for up to nine guests. Despite its impressive dimensions, the new Grand Banks flagship can be handled by the owner-operator, with an optional configuration for crew quarters if needed.

3. PRINCESS X80

PRINCESS X80 - Cannes 2022

Although Princess Yachts’ lineup for Cannes 2022 is still in the making, we just couldn’t pass up a closer look at the newest member of their X Class Superfly series, which is expected to appear in Cannes after its world premiere in January. The new Princess X80 offers the unique concept of an extended flybridge with 30 percent more indoor space.

Built for an extended time at sea, the X80 design was developed by Olesinski and Pininfarina studio, featuring avant-garde design and innovative new options. Boasting possibly the best owner’s cabin in its class, the X80 also features a superb dining and entertaining space near the bow that can also be optioned as a spacious owner’s stateroom.

4. RIVA 102 CORSARO SUPER

RIVA 102 CORSARO SUPER - Cannes 2022

No world-class boat show could be complete without a new model from Riva, and Cannes 2022 is no exception. This year, the Italian yard will debut the much anticipated Riva 102 model, evolving from the iconic Corsaro 100. The new model features a completely renewed design with an extended beach club.

The Riva 102 boasts more than 1,000 square feet of the outdoor area and one-and-a-half times more glass, enabling as much contact with the sea as possible. With its sleek arrowhead silhouette, the Riva 102 combines the concept of a sport boat with the comfort of the most luxurious flybridge superyachts packed with multiple amenities and options.

5. SIRENA 78

SIRENA 78 - Cannes 2022

The Turkish-built Sirena 78, premiering at this year’s Cannes Yachting Festival, is quite possibly one of the most versatile yachts coming to the show. It offers maximum customization options and can be configured with a fully enclosed, semi-enclosed or fully open flybridge, for yachting in various climates. The yacht’s versatility is further enhanced by the innovative concept of movable furniture, which enables transforming Sirena 78 into a different vessel at a moment’s notice.

Sirena’s entertainment capabilities have been enhanced by relocating the helm from the main deck, giving space to a huge galley accommodating an oversized island, and offering an option for having two saloons. With an impressive foredeck lounge area and hull-side windows enclosing the VIP forepeak suite, Sirena is packed with features to attract diverse buyers.

With so many innovative yachts making their debut at this year’s Cannes Yachting Festival, the event promises to be a win-win for builders and boaters alike. If you’re planning to attend, the 26 North Yachts team will be there to walk you through new models, discuss your needs and assist you at every step of the yacht acquisition process.
