With just days before the presidential election, it is unlikely we will ever get a look at Donald Trump’s tax returns. However, we can get a peek inside one of the luxury motor yachts formerly owned by the billionaire Republican nominee.
The outspoken presidential nominee and former reality TV star, once owned one of the world’s largest superyachts. Dubbed the Trump Princess, the 282-foot superyacht was bedecked in marble and gold. It had a master bedroom ceiling made of rare tortoise shell, and equipped with such amenities as a helipad, a disco, and a movie theater. Trump Princess was purchased by Trump from Saudi billionaire, Adnan Khashoggi in the late 1980s, and it seemed to personify “The Donald.” In fact, according to Architectural Digest, one of Trump’s first requests was to change the typical “H” on the helipad to a “T”.
Trump bought the yacht from Khashoggi in 1988, for $29 million. However, Trump could not keep the vessel very long. When his financial fortunes began to turn, he was forced to sell the yacht in 1991 to Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, who renamed the vessel the Kingdom 5KR, after his lucky number and his two children’s first initials. Trump sold the boat at a loss for $20 million.

During Khashoggi’s ownership, it was one of the largest yachts in the world but is now ranked below 60th and continues to fall down in the rankings, due to the trend of larger and larger personal yachts being built.
The Kingdom 5KR as she is now known, has a steel hull with an aluminum superstructure with a beam of 43’3″ft and a 15’5″ft draft. She has a cruising speed of 17.00 knots, max speed of 20.00 knots.
