We were excited to blog about the Cheoy Lee Explorer 150 announcement recently and we’re charged again to cover the addition of the sporty Alpha 111 to the lineup of the Alpha Series: 76 Express, 76 Flybridge and Alpha 87. Both new models are a first-time collaboration with Overing Yacht Design who brought their reputable yachting and commercial-vessel expertise to the drafting table in these remarkable vessels. The vessels’ designs are in response to consumer needs.

The sleek, racy lines and top performance found in the other Alpha yachts are reflected in the much larger Alpha 111 sister, constructed in resin-infused composite with a technologically-advanced modular CNC build. In addition to the increased fuel capacity, length and luxurious amenities, the design is winning interest for both the express and traditional motoryacht buyer with its increased interior and exterior volume. Moreover, a certain amount of customization is allowed.

Cheoy Lee is offering American buyers the extended hardtop, and the European version features an open flying bridge. Staterooms may be configured into four or five cabins. The four-stateroom version frees up space for a main-deck country kitchen with a mid-ship master belowdecks, while the five-cabin layout includes a main deck master forward. Unusual for production yachts this size, both designs have a beach-club-style tender garage on the same level as the swim platform that doubles as a shaded lounge space with easy access to the water when the toys are offloaded. The space allows for a 12’ to 13’ tender or PWC in addition to scooters.

Gene Weeks, Express Project Manager addressed the crossover appeal, “We will now literally have a yacht design for every ocean-going style and taste. We can customize many aspects of the interior and exterior layouts and create a different look because of our modular construction. Like building blocks, Cheoy Lee can assemble the desired configuration combining precisely fitted pieces, offering flexibility with structural integrity.”

The Cheoy Lee Alpha 111 excels in performance with twin Caterpillar C32 Acert 1900hp engines that power her to top speeds of about 25 knots. Those who enjoy a more leisurely pace and long distances will appreciate speeds of 10 knots that yield a 2,000,-nautical-mile range. Explained Weeks, “Cheoy Lee’s construction is very high-tech and advanced, and they have been successful in taking weight out of the boat with infusion, composites and honeycomb interiors—that is very important to performance.” The 6’3” draft allows access to more shallow areas and the 24’4” beam creates spaciousness on board.

You may access more information on the Cheoy Lee Alpha 111 at the upcoming Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. 26 North Yachts holds high respect for Cheoy Lee’s customized, yet affordable luxury.
