A favorite on 26 North Yachts’ Top 10 Yacht Manufacturers List, Horizon recently announced two new V series motor yacht models in our specialty range (70’ to 140’) and the launch of the second luxury superyacht RP110—CARNIVAL LIBERTY 3.
Increasing interior volume and the variety of amenities and features, Horizon is adding a V72 motoryacht and bigger sister V80 cockpit motoryacht to their luxury yacht collection, apparently replacing the previous V68 and V74. The changes were based on customer feedback and feature convenience, performance, comfort and flexibility. New “classically modern” industry trends are reflected in both models, like larger ports to allow more light inside and a foredeck lounge area with U-shaped settee and dual sunpads. The beams are 20’6” with the V72 drawing 5’2’ and the V80 drawing 5’11”. Performance figures aren’t official, but we’re anticipating cruising speeds in the low 20-knot range with standard twin Caterpillar C18A 1,150-hp engines in either model. Both models feature a dedicated internal staircase from the main salon to crew quarters. While the V series is built to accommodate crew in separate quarters, the vessels are easily operable by an owner / operator, and the crew cabins can then accommodate more guests, especially independence-hungry kids. Turnkey and convenience are benefits to choosing Horizon.

The first hull of the Horizon V72 will be on display at the Taiwan International Boat Show in May, having already launched to a Singaporean owner. The V72 boasts clean, fluid lines with the aforementioned enhanced interior volume and superb entertaining areas. Her flush deck salon-to-galley transition and open main deck complement the spacious feeling of the lower deck thanks to windows that not only enhance exterior styling but functionally flood the belowdecks interiors with light and views. She comfortably accommodates guests in three ensuite staterooms, including a full-beam master (you give up an additional twin cabin that’s in the V80).

In other Horizon news, the second RP110 superyacht (named CARNIVAL LIBERTY 3) recently launched. Horizon-watchers will recall the launch of the first hull, superyacht ANDREA VI not too long ago. CARNIVAL LIBERTY 3 was a semi-custom creation in collaboration with designer JC Espinosa and naval architect Donald L. Blount. Changes in the second launch include an on-deck master that brings the stateroom total to five. Mirror VIPs amidships that share a bath, and two, twin-berth staterooms forward with separate baths will comfortably accommodate guests. Another departure, a tender garage aft accessible via a hydraulic door features a work bench, head and storage. The adjacent hi-low swim platform lifts and lowers easily for water access. CARNIVAL LIBERTY 3’s owner desired accommodations for a crew of six which on this vessel are placed on the lower deck forward. The main deck aft offers up a traditional dinette, and a bait well to port will appeal to fishing fans. Inside the main salon, a step down bar to starboard provides yet another option for entertaining. The galley, also to starboard, is set up for better and more direct crew access. The flybridge boasts two separate seating areas aft and an outdoor galley and wet bar just behind the bridge.

Her streamlined profile provides an impressive interior volume, and her advanced double-chine hull boasts enhanced stability, performance and maneuvering with ease over a wide range of speeds. The same engine package as ANDREA VI powers CARNIVAL LIBERTY 3 to cruising speeds of about 18 knots and maximum speeds of 22 knots with twin CAT C32A 1900-hp engines. At 11 knots, her range is 1,700 nm, and at 17 knots, the range drops to 650 nm. Her beam measures 25’ with a draft of 6’.
