At 26 North Yachts we take immense pride in the yachting community as whole. We would like to introduce an industry favorite, Elise Moffitt, Marketing & PR Coordinator at Horizon Yachts.
Name: Elise Moffitt
Position: Marketing & PR Coordinator for Horizon Yacht USA
Years Worked: 3 years
Company: Horizon Yachts USA
Q: What made you want to go into the Yachting Industry?
A: I’ve spent my life around water and boats; my parents, Dawn and Kermit Moffitt, have a long history in the yachting industry and are still connected to it today with their interior design business Dawn Moffitt Design, Inc. Growing up, my parents careers allowed me to be exposed to many aspects of yachting – manufacturing, custom builds, refits, christenings, maiden voyages, cruising trips – and those experiences always left me thirsting for more. As I got older, I knew I had to find a way to be involved in the industry.
Q:What is your favorite part of your job?
A: My favorite part is educating people (and the industry!) about Horizon Yachts and getting them on board to see the quality and craftsmanship of our yachts. I love hearing people’s initial “wow” when they step on board!
Q: What was your proudest moment in the industry?
A: My first trip to Taiwan to visit Horizon’s shipyards. I remember standing in one of the Horizon facilities and seeing everything with my own eyes – it was an exciting and surreal moment for me. I felt proud of not only where I was at that moment and what I was doing, but also proud of being a part of Horizon Yachts.
Q: What is your favorite boat and why?
A: This is a hard question for me! Every time I get on board one of our new yachts, it becomes my favorite…most recently my favorite is the EP69 expedition yacht. She’s got this eye-catching deep red hull and her interior volume is amazing for 69 feet. She’s got a lot of great spaces, and the flybridge is perfect for open-air cruising or entertaining. I just think she’s got so much character!
Q: What is a personal goal you have for next year?
A: Travel more…I love going to new places, meeting new people, experiencing new things. There’s so much to see, even in my own South Florida back yard, and why not do it now?
Q: What direction do you see the yachting industry going in your field?
A: In the time I’ve been with Horizon, I’ve seen a shift in industry marketing, a bigger focus on creating more personal connections with yacht owners, brokers, industry professionals, etc. I believe that these connections, particularly through social media and company websites, are a crucial part of creating and maintaining relationships, and I think the yachting industry is going to be making a more concerted effort to interact on a personal level with their audience.
