The superyacht Adastra recently showed up in port on the Greek Island of Mykonos, leaving many residents and tourists to ponder if she arrived by sea, or warp drive! The futuristic megayacht bears a striking resemblance to Star Trek’s fictitious starship Enterprise.
However, Adastra is no fantasy, but rather one of the most impressive superyachts in the world. The undisclosed owner of the Adastra, is a Hong-Kong based entrepreneur and billionaire, who reportedly purchased the superyacht for 18 million dollars. It may not have transporters, but among its high-tech marvels, she can be navigated by iPad!
More Details of This Futuristic Superyacht
The Adastra, is based on the trimaran concept, but it takes this design to new heights. According to the local Greek press, reporting on her visit to Mykonos, “she is the result of more than 5 years of design and concept meetings among the current owners, naval architects, and the yacht builder, to create a unique luxury motor yacht that would meet or exceed “the needs of a very experienced ocean voyaging couple and their family, and to provide the level of comfort and style that would be expected in a yacht of this class and size.”
To that end, no effort has been spared to produce a superyacht that is the epitome of form, function and luxury. Again, according to the Greek press, exclusive design elements include: extensive tank testing and radio controlled model tests that were carried out to analyze stability and performance, her outrigger height has been optimized for smooth motion, and a new outrigger shape has been developed to increase stability even in rough seas.
Despite her atypical and eye-catching appearance, Adastra has all the luxury accommodations one would expect in a billionaire’s superyacht. The aft deck has a sofa and bar area to port, and a dining area to starboard. Further aft of this, is space for a 16 foot tender, and directly below that there is a garage which stores another 15 foot tender. The garage door has been designed to fold out and create a large diving platform. Extra space has been created below deck by slightly flaring the central hull just above the waterline.
She has been designed to accommodate nine guests, and up to six crew members. The main helm station, which has seating for two, is positioned in a raised pilot house situated between the aft deck and the saloon area, and forms part of the cross beam structure.
During her awe inspiring stop in Mykonos, she turned many heads, but there were no Klingons or Tribbles in sight!
