Recap of the 57th Annual Ft. Lauderdale Boat Show
By all accounts, the 57th Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS) was a resounding success for exhibitors, attendees, and as usual – the local economy.
According to show managers, attendance at the five-day event was up five percent over FLIBS 2015. Among all segments of boats on display, the largest increase were boats for sale under 100 feet in length, which increased in number by about three percent over last year.
The show also saw the most superyachts on display in its history, with seven luxury motor yachts over 200 feet on display.
Speaking to the press, Efrem “Skip” Zimbalist III, president of Show Management, the producers of FLIBS, said, “It’s encouraging to see the most growth in the middle of the market, as this represents the majority of boat buyers and suggests that overall boat sales are strong again. Many exhibitors reported that they left the show with strong leads and sea trials scheduled in the coming weeks.”
The show drew an international crowd of buyers, sellers and browsers to see the latest and greatest the global boating industry has to offer, and to do business in the “Yachting Capital of the World.”
What Else Was New at FLIBS 2016
Every year the show’s organizers want to give exhibiters and attendees a bigger and better experience. There were several improvements this year, including a completely redesigned exhibition space, more upscale food and beverage offerings, an exclusive VIP lounge, and boating and navigation classes presented by Carefree Boat Club.
Some of the unique and more interesting yachts on display were: Delta’s Carbon 88, an all carbon fiber motor yacht, of striking futuristic design, Feadship’s 274-Foot Savannah, crown jewel of the superyacht category, which swept this year’s design awards, the impressive debut of the Carver 52, and our own 82 foot Nisi yacht, the Diva, that was designed and custom built, by and for, well-known entrepreneur John Osher.
Upcoming Boat Shows and Events
26 North Yachts was once again proud to be part of our area’s premier boating event. Many visitors stopped by to see the motor yachts for sale we had on display, and in the weeks ahead we expect to be doing some sea trials based on interest generated at FLIBS.
We now look forward to our area’s next big yacht show events, Yachts Miami Beach and the Miami International Boat Show, both of which run February 16 to 20, 2017.
It’s not always easy to stay on top of what’s new in motor yachts. If you would like to benefit from our expertise in these areas, or if you have any questions or comments about this blog post, do not hesitate to contact our Sales Specialists, or call us at 954-900-9988.
