UK based Sunseeker Yachts has enjoyed some great successes in the past few years. This has included the launch of several new models, and the winning of significant industry accolades such as being recognized as 2016’s Champion of British Manufacturing. On the heels of such achievements, Sunseeker International, plans to debut not one, but four new models at the upcoming Cannes Yachting Festival.
The Cannes Yachting Festival takes place every September in the uniquely elegant and luxurious surroundings of the sparkling bay of Cannes. This year the show runs from September 12th through 17th. The international yachting event “kicks off” the boat show season, and is generally recognized as Europe’s leading in-water boating event.
Sunseeker has announced it will showcase eight models in total, including one world premiere, three show debuts, and four recently launched models.
World Premier of the Sunseeker Predator 57 MK II
One of the most anticipated debuts at Cannes will be the World Premier of the Predator 57 MK II. The Predator has long been one of the most popular models in Sunseeker’s line. Sunseeker’s Predator series has been defined by the sleek yet aggressive lines of the Predator 57 and 68 sports yachts, which, according to the Robb Report, “have two of the most advanced cockpit designs in yachting.”
The Predator 57 MK II, is the next design leap forward for the 57 class. The Sunseeker 57 MK II retains the giant sunroof, multiple social areas, three staterooms, and a captain’s cabin of the original 57 MK model, which was introduced two years ago. The updates on the MK II include sweeping side windows that are now pillar-less, allowing for uninterrupted views of the ocean, and social possibilities that are “covered” in every type of weather. This is thanks to a unique new feature on the MK II — her cockpit buttons up nicely in rain or wind, but when the sun’s out, the patio door between the saloon and outer cockpit actually lowers into the sole, turning the deck into an entertainment area.
The MK II performs as fast as she looks. Beyond its stunningly sharp profile, the Predator 57 MK II can reach speeds of up to 40 knots. It’s a swift and nimble boat, able to carve turns like much smaller sport or power boats.
Other Sunseeker Debuts at the Cannes Boat Show
Not a world premiere, but taking her first bow at Cannes, will be the recently launched Manhattan 66. The 66 is the second in Sunseeker’s redesign of their popular Manhattan line. The first, the Manhattan 52, was released in summer of 2016.
According to a company spokesman, “Building on the success of the Manhattan 52, Sunseeker’s latest luxury motor yacht underlines our intentions to lead this critical segment of the market, and our commitment to producing an unrivaled portfolio of luxury performance motor yachts from 50-155 feet.”
The new Manhattan 66 sports a unique open layout, with ample seating and sunbathing areas throughout. She also has a well-equipped wet-bar, a wide bathing platform, capable of launching a tender of appreciable size, and an optional barbecue and overhead rain shower.
She also has two large twin cabins, a forward VIP suite and master cabin with private stairway access from the salon, and twin-birth crew quarters. Her powerful, yet efficient twin MAN 1,000hp/1,200hp engines allow the Manhattan 66 to cruise comfortably at 25 knots or achieve a speedy 34 knots at full throttle.
Also making their first appearance at Cannes will be the 68 Sport Yacht that can reach a top end of 38 knots, with a range of 300 nautical miles, and Sunseeker’s new 131 Yacht, which launched last year, and has already seen orders for the new model balloon with 10 orders.
