I am sure somewhere in the Marvel Universe, multi-millionaire inventor Tony Stark owns a yacht, and it is probably a lot like the real world Vivace 125” motor yacht, better known as “Iron Man.”
This “Iron Man” may not be able to fly, or shoot laser beams, but it is one remarkable feat of modern engineering. Built by Benetti Yachts at their Viareggio, Italy shipyard, she was delivered to her owner in 2015.
According to Benetti, “The Vivace 125′ is a three decked (plus the sun deck) semi wide body yacht. The sportive exterior was designed by Stefano Righini with a widespread use of horizontal windows that accentuate the streamlining, together
with a remarkable central structure in the side of the superstructure that covers the access stairway to the upper deck.”
Despite her name, she is not made of iron, but rather a combination of space age materials such as composites and carbon fibers. She gets her name “Iron Man,” from the current owner’s love for the comic book hero, and he has designed the interior with technology and gadgetry that he feels were inspired by Tony Stark’s love for high-tech.
Features of This 125 Foot Benetti Superyacht
According to the builders, the exterior of Iron Man has four distinct areas devoted to dining, entertaining, cruising and on-board living. Astern on the upper deck, you will find a lounge with a custom divan over 12 feet long, forward of which there is a full size swimming pool that has spacious areas to relax and soak up some rays, in addition to the traditional sun-deck. The owner also specifically requested that this deck be equipped with an auxiliary steering position. The beach area has its own bar and is completely dedicated to enjoying the sea, with a copious, but unobtrusive garage, that can hold any manner of water toys.
Iron Man’s interior configuration has been designed to comfortably accommodate up to 10 guests overnight in 5 cabins, comprising a master suite, 2 double cabins and 2 twin cabins. She is also capable of carrying up to 8 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.
Rather than rocket boots, she is powered by 2 MTU (12V 2000 M94) 2,600hp diesel engines and propelled by her two azipods. The superyacht Iron Man is capable of a top speed of 22 knots, and comfortably cruises at 17.5 knots. With her 25,000 fuel tanks, she has a maximum range of 1,250 nautical miles at 12 knots.
Iron Man’s control panel would make Tony Stark proud!
