Since 1964, Westport Yachts has been a pioneer in composite construction. Today, Westport Yachts is one of the largest and most popular producers of 85 to 164-foot fiberglass luxury motor yachts.

Back in August, the Washington State based yacht builder launched the latest addition to its superyacht lineup, The Westport 125. The 125 sports a raised pilot house, and according to the Superyacht Times, she was “designed with a series of curved styling features, giving the Westport 125 a distinctly modern and sporty exterior.”

We have been keeping tabs on this pedigree Westport Yacht, and she certainly showed what she was made of by cruising over 6000 miles nonstop to her own debut at the 2016 Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show.

The first of the Westport 125 line, featured at FLIBS 2016 is named Black Gold. According to the company, she was built for an unnamed repeat client to be “sleek and sporty,” but somehow still maintain many styling features that are uniquely Westport. One thing however, that is unique to Black Gold, and indeed to the whole Westport line, is the “Beach Club.” High enough above the water’s surface to avoid any slamming from the swells, guests for the first time have a luxury beach area complete with bar and day head. Since her owner enjoys diving and watersports, an onboard air compressor, scuba sled and dive gear can be found side by side with the beach-club furniture. The “Beach Club” stern design is very popular on newer model European yachts in the 125s class, but she is the first Westport to feature this stern design. It is indicative of the yacht builder’s desire to offer modern European design elements on an American made yacht.

More About the New Westport 125

Westport is hoping that the new Westport 125 motor yacht will have direct appeal to owners of the similar, yet smaller, model 112. “We’ve just delivered Hull No. 57 of the 112 series,” says Ron Nugent, director of marketing for Westport Yachts. “So there are 57 owners out there who would hopefully move up to the 125. The first four 125s are spoken for, and all so far have been bought by 112 owners who moved up.”

In fact, according to the builder, the 125 was designed to coax owners of the 112 series who love the brand, to move up by offering a variety of amenities and upgrades, such as the aforementioned “Beach Club,” and a hydraulic swim platform that comes out and opens up.

Like all Westport Yachts, this newest version of the 125 boasts the latest in composite fiberglass yacht construction technologies, and has been “specifically engineered to optimize comfort, interior and exterior spaces.”

The Westport 125 has been designed to accommodate up to 10, in total style and luxury. She features a full-width Master stateroom with his-and-her baths and wardrobes. There are four ensuite guest staterooms that can be appointed with queen or twin bed configurations. Some owners may opt to convert one of the guest suites into a fitness center.

All of the staterooms benefit from added natural light and exterior views from hull windows that are exquisitely molded into the hull.
