Give 10 people 10 days in the Bahamas on board the charter megayacht Perseverance II (ex. Mercedes II) and you have all the makings of an unforgettable trip. Try a please-everyone itinerary from Nassau to Georgetown that will include beach picnics, fishing, snorkeling, jet skiing, casinos, nightlife, shopping, hiking, and sightseeing. All of this is enjoyed with a glorious backdrop of the dramatic blue waters of the Bahamas.
Let’s start with a tour of this 123-foot floating castle from Oceanfast
. She boasts excellent outdoor gathering spaces—from the large aft deck on the main deck and wrap-around lounge for reading or socializing to a multi-level bar under a louvered, protected cover. The sky lounge provides ample views of the passing scenery, while the foredeck beckons for fun and relaxation with huge sun pads under parasol shading, groups of seating, and a six-person Jacuzzi.
Perseverance II sleeps up to 10 guests in four cabins (with two convertible beds in the sky lounge for children or nannies), including a full-beam, on-deck master stateroom with his/hers ensuite bath. The two queen staterooms and twin lower berth also feature ensuite baths.
She is fully outfitted for exploring Bahamian waters with items such as the all-important tender (17’6” Novurania 530 RIB) for transporting guests on shore in shallow waters and to small cays that demand exploring (even though the mother vessel only draws six feet). She also boasts two, three-man Kawasaki jet skis, waterskis, a wakeboard, fishing equipment, and inflatable toys. In some spots you’ll want to cover some distance quickly, but in other spots, you’ll want to slow down. Perseverance II cruises at 12 knots, but she can max out at 16 knots if you need to make it to your next anchorage—fast—before sundown.
Now, for that all important itinerary. Start off at the Marina at Atlantis luxury yacht harbor on Paradise Island where you’ll have access to sightseeing in Nassau, shopping, casinos, nightlife, an incredible aquarium, and beach walks on idyllic sand crescents. On day two, cruise to Allens Cay, dinghy to shore, feed the iguanas, and then head to Shroud Cay for a quiet beach perfect for a group picnic and jet skiing in the mangroves. Head to Highbourne Cay on day three to swim with the rays and fish a bit.
Cruise to Normans Cay for incredible snorkeling on day four at the Thunder Ball Grotto (note the James Bond movie) or dive on the plane wreck. Sandy Cay is nice for a beach barbecue on untouched beaches. Stop in at Warderick Wells land and sea park with great hiking trails, snorkeling, and memorable sunset. For days six and seven, plan on mooring at Bell Island where you can explore a strip of islands at your leisure. Fish your way to Staniel Cay on days eight and nine and say hi to the pigs that will meet you on your tender (bring treats). If you feel like it, dock and dine at the yacht club for a change of pace. On day 10, finish up this memorable cruise on board a memorable vessel in Georgetown before heading back home.
