It may not have the glitz and glamor of some of the other event that are taking place world-wide during this super boat show season, but The Superyacht Forum (TSF), which will be held in Amsterdam during the METSTRADE Show, really means business!
TSF, which this year runs from November 13 -16, is sponsored by the SuperyachtNews It combines several other meetings that have also been traditionaly hosted by the SuperyachtNews, into one all-encompassing event, that the organizers say will, “bring together the design community, the shipyards, the strategic thinkers and marketers, the financial, tax, and business communities, along with the owner advisory network, while at the same time introduce a unique mix of experts to the existing community of the Global Superyacht Forum, to create the most valuable and powerful meeting place for everyone involved in superyachts.”
As such, while open to anyone who wishes to attend, the event is a “must see” for the business side of yachting. According to SuperyachtNews, there is a “business theme that runs throughout the program this year.” Highlights include: “The Investor Summit”, the launch of the new Red Ensign Code and a discussion on cyber insurance.
As we ourselves have reported several times over the past year, cybercrime is a growing concern among yacht owners. TSF has invited several leading “tech gurus” to address the issue of cybercrime, more from a market perspective and not so much focusing on what the individual yacht owner can do to prevent it.
The other topic of major concern to the yachting industry is the adoption of the “Red Ensign” Code. The Red Ensign Code, proposes a consolidation of the Large Yacht Code (LY3) and the Passenger Yacht Code for yachts flagged with the “Red Ensign.” The final proposed new regulations will be presented at TSF, and it will be the first, of what will undoubtedly be many opportunities, for stakeholders to read, analyze, discuss and debate the relative pros and cons of the new code.
