Top 5 Design Innovations at Ocean Alexander Yachts

Ocean Alexander Yachts has built its reputation on its sturdy hull design based on aesthetics and ingenuity. With a history of over 30 years in the industry, Ocean Alexander not only focuses on top design ideas, but also concentrates on using the best materials and engineering innovations that provide the yacht owner with reliability, safety and maneuverability.

The latest design and engineering developments seen in the Ocean Alexander 80, 90 and 98 yacht models continue to meet the quality and integrity expected in the industry.

Hull design and deck structure

Ocean Alexander has continued to perfect and refine the hull of their yachts to help improve on performance, efficiency and balance. The Ocean Alexander 90 features crash bulkheads and hull stringers which are engineered to offer structural soundness and hydrodynamic stability. The hull is composed of a closed-cell foam core from deck to waterline. The underlying hull below the waterline is an end-grain balsa-cored superstructure. Unidirectional carbon fiber provides extra strength to reinforce the bulkheads and stringers.

Ocean Alexander also implements tunnels in their hull design, allowing propellers to be tucked in the hull and engines to be located in the rear of the yacht. This positioning of engines and props aids in driveline efficiency, overall speed and reduced fuel consumption, along with more room up front for living spaces. This emphasizes, Ocean Alexander’s design concept that development of a yacht’s exterior should provide character, but not overlook function.

Engine room and components

The engine room on Ocean Alexander model 90 boasts high-polished stainless steel fittings, sophisticated sound installation, top-of-the line plumbing, electrical and hydraulic components in an area with adequate ceilings, making it easy to access for necessary maintenance. Extra details that add to the yacht’s safety include marine-grade, tinned copper wiring that is harnessed and coded with labeling for quick recognition, along with explosive-proof lighting. The military-grade aluminum alloy fuel tanks are pressure tolerant and resist leakage, making them one of the longest lasting in the industry. The twin 10 cylinder, common-rail MTU diesel engines run smoothly while producing 1600 hp with a noise level at approximately 60 decibels. At 10 knots, the vessel handles with ease and gets approximately 1 nautical mile per gallon.

Spacious and stylish entertainment and fully equipped galley

Equipped with the latest in cabinetry, the Ocean Alexander 80’s stylish lounge features built-in entertainment shelving units and cabinets that are ample for housing a 40 inch TV, a 15 inch wine cooler or other custom entertainment devices like DVD/CD players or iPod connections. Forward to the lounge is a U-shaped fully equipped galley and spacious dinette for dining options. The galley is equipped with modern electrical appliances like a cooktop, oven, microwave, compactor, dishwasher and 36 inch refrigerator.

Standard Equipment for Comfort

The model 80 comes equipped with all the necessary equipment to keep a tight ship and occupants happy, including a 40-gallon water heater, 3 inch insulation for sound proofing the engine room, Tecma toilets, marine-grade copper wiring, LED lights throughout, ergonomically designed helm chair, water-tight doors and more. Luxury Details

The Ocean Alexander 98 series (100 ft) sports a modern pilothouse and sky lounge with sun deck and outdoor spa pool perched above the main deck. The back end of the sun deck is used for storing the tender and toys. Besides the spacious and fully furnished living area with dining and galley accommodations outfitted with the latest appliances, two VIP suites boast inward-facing beds which are handsomely decorated with the finest linens, granite side tables, built-in mahogany cabinetry and en suite facilities. Room for family and friends, the design has two additional cabins in double and twin layouts with a separate shared shower room. The guest rooms can hold up to 10 persons in 5 rooms.

The two crew rooms accommodate 3 to 4 persons and are located aft of the engine room. The placement of suites and crew accommodations are designed to maximize space and provide convenience to other areas of the yacht.
