Happy New Year!

2017 is already looking to be a big year for the launch of new luxury motor yachts and for the yachting industry. Here are five of the most highly anticipated superyachts expecting to launch this year.

Sailing Yacht A

As we reported in 2016, Russian billionaire Andrey Melnichenko, has put the distinctive Motor Yacht A, up for sale, and in her stead, is having built the equally unique Sailing Yacht A. What these superyachts may lack in creativity in naming, is more than made up for in unique style and engineering! Sailing Yacht A is officially designated a “sail-assisted motor yacht”. She has three rotating, free-standing carbon fiber masts, the middle one of which rises nearly 350 feet above the waterline, and carries a total sail area of nearly 4000 square yards!

Project Jupiter

Project Jupiter is the 400 foot superyacht project by German yacht builder Lürssen. The project is the first collaboration between Lürssen and H2 Yacht Design and March & White. The builders have been keeping very close to the vest with any details about the yacht, other than to say, she will consist of a “contemporary interior that will be defined by timeless styling, nautical details and innovative bespoke finishes…”

Project Jubilee

Oceanco is known for building some of the largest and most dynamic superyachts in the world. The over 350 foot Project Jubilee will be the largest build yet for the well-known Norwegian yacht maker. Expected to launch this year, Jubilee is the first yacht to be built in Oceanco’s new 450 foot dry dock. Project Jubilee’s exterior design comes courtesy of Igor Lobanov, while Sam Sorgiovanni created the interiors and the naval architecture was developed in collaboration with British studio BMT Nigel Gee.

Project Mistral

This is another highly anticipated launch from Lürssen. Keeping almost as secretive about this one as Jupiter, we know that Mistral is nearly 350 feet in length and is being built for an experienced owner, who has specified Francois Zuretti interiors, and that she will be based in the Middle East when completed.

Project Illusion

Illusion, a 300 foot superyacht project being built by China’s Pride Mega Yachts, is due to launch this year, and is a prime example of how Asian yacht builders remain competitive in the marketplace. The yacht’s interior has been designed by Sinot Yacht Design and has exterior styling by Rainsford Mann Design. Illusion will offer accommodation for up to 14 guests in 7 suites . She is also capable of carrying up to 27 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.
