Whenever the head turning superyacht, Gran Finale is seen, she prompts speculation about who owns her. When she was recently spotted in Nelsen, New Zealand, the mystery continued.
The owner of the 150 foot luxury yacht has always been a well-kept secret. Speculation has ranged from Ivana Trump to Madonna. But none of that is true. According to sources the owner is not a celebrity or well-known business person, but simply a billionaire that values his (or her!) privacy. According to Ted Sputh, the superyacht’s Captain, “We always hear the Trumps or Madonna, but none of that’s true. You wouldn’t know him anyway. He’s just your common, ordinary billionaire.”
However, that did not stop the speculation, and the rumors to continue when the Gran Finale was berthed at the wharf in Wakefield Quay, in Nelsen, NZ, earlier this month.
Details of the Luxury Yacht Gran Finale
While the owner of the megayacht Gran Finale remains shrouded in mystery, we do know a bit about the yacht herself. She is said to be worth about 40 million dollars. The 150 foot luxury yacht was built by US shipbuilder, Delta Marine at their Seattle shipyard and was delivered to the anonymous owner in 2002.
According to the builder, “Gran Finale features bold and contemporary styling that distinguish this high performance motor yacht designed for increased speeds, range and comfort. Capable of transoceanic crossings with ease, and cruising speeds close to 20 knots, Gran Finale is remarkably quiet and calm in her ride.”
The yacht received Showboats International Award for Best Motor Yacht over 38 meters in 2003. She can accommodate up to 12 guests and is capable of carrying up to eight crew onboard. Other features include wraparound decks, including a private flybridge with Jacuzzi, sun beds and dining areas.
