Yacht of the Week: PRICE REDUCTION on AMG – a 116 Foot Denison Yacht
Our yacht of the week this week is AMG, a 116 Foot Denison Yacht that has recently been reduced for sale!
When you think “classic American yacht,” two names usually come to mind, Burger, and Denison. Denison Yachts was founded in 1983 by Christopher “Kit” Denison with a shipyard right here in Dania Beach, FL. His father, Frank Denison, was founder of Broward Marine (now Broward Yachts). While Denison Yachts are no longer in production, they are still highly desirable for their proprietary aluminum design and use of advanced technologies for increased speed. Denison pioneered the use of Kamewa Jet Drives and Arneson Surface Drives in the United States, and quickly became a leader in yachts over 100 feet, that could attain 30-plus knots. Models included motoryachts, express sport yachts, and motoryachts with a raised pilothouse.
Originally built in 1987, when Denison was at the peak of their popularity, AMG now needs a bit of a makeover, but she is still a prime example of what makes owning a Denison Yacht a unique experience.
Special Features of this 116 foot Denison Yacht for Sale
If you really want a classic American yacht, AMG is the boat for you. She is a little bit of a “fixer-upper,” however, all that means is that you can have her customized for your desires. As the original designers of AMG, Joe Langlois and Carl Bischoff once said, “Some buyers enjoy and only want to rebuild. Why? They enjoy the creative process.”
The current owner had started a major refit, but a change in plans, necessitated putting her up for sale. But at a recently REDUCED list price of $675,000 she is priced to move! With Kamewa jet drives that Denison’s are known for, (which have been factory rebuilt), AMG is perfect for cruising the Intracoastal and other rivers and shallow inland waterways of SOFLA, as she has no propellers!
Though she needs a little, “TLC”, the salon is the most valuable feature of this yacht. With her 25 foot beam she beats most of the competition in this category, especially newer lighter weight, narrower, high style yachts. Once refit, and along with her distinctive jet drives, AMG would make a great addition to a charter fleet, and you probably could recoup much of the coast of the refit in charter income.
