Westport Delivers Hull Number 4010 in Westport 130 Series

Word on the waves is that Westport has just delivered another tri-deck, composite, planing hull—it’s 38th—from its popular Westport 130 motoryacht series.  Hull number 4010 is presumably now Fruition. Those who’ve been around awhile may remember that the Westport 130 actually debuted at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show back in 2001. Since then, Westport boasts that the Westport 130 (or W130) “has provided dependable worldwide service, unsurpassed comfort and function in a tasteful, timeless design.” A 2009 redesign has produced other Westport 130s such as Book Ends, Gene Machine, Amarula Sun, Angel Wings, Winning Drive, Mustang Sally and Miss Michelle.

Fruition’s naval architecture by William Garden and exterior styling by Taylor Olson are complemented by interiors created in-house by the Westport team.  Luxury, convenience, reliability and performance are all thoughtfully considered.  ABS-classed and MCA-compliant, the Westport 130 can be used privately or for charter.

Interiors have been designed with privacy, convenience and relaxation in mind. She’ll accommodate 10 guests in a master suite on the main deck and in four double cabins (all en-suite) on the lower deck.  The spacious master suite includes a formal office, plenty of storage and a fine display of Westport’s trademark woodworking abilities.

Many outdoor areas on multiple decks are dedicated to entertaining with various seating arrangements for cozy couples or gregarious groups, including a hot tub on the sundeck. On the upper lounge aft deck there is room for tender and toys. On the main deck, seating for eight aft at a decorative table awaits hungry guests (and convenient day head forward of the main salon for when nature calls).

Captain and crew will appreciate the latest navigation and communications equipment in the wheelhouse and elsewhere on board. Auxiliary controls are located along each beam for easy access to precision docking. The lazarette is fully outfitted with stainless steel work bench, tool chest, non-slip flooring and air compressor—and all well-lit. Crew will find the engine room intelligently laid out and accessible. Two staterooms with private head and showers accommodate a crew of up to eight.

Fruition’s twin 2,735hp MTU diesels yield top speeds of 24 knots and cruising speeds of 20 knots. It’s been reported that at 11.5 knots, she’ll cover a range of 2,300 nautical miles. Guests will appreciate the minimal vibration and quieted acoustics which have reputedly been reduced to levels of a luxury car. Her beam is 26’ and her draft 6’6”.

A piece of yachting trivia: Yachting enthusiasts may recall golfing legend Jack Nicklaus’ 2005 Westport 130 Sea Bear that debuted last year at Boat Asia 2012. The yacht is actually a floating museum housing 36 unique pieces related to Nicklaus’ golfing career hand-selected by Jack and his wife Barbara.

26 North Yachts has included performance-bred Westport motoryachts on their Top 10 list. They’re the U.S.’s largest builder, founded in 1964 as a multi-vessel commercial shipyard (commercial fishers and ferries). We admire their composite construction that’s less susceptible to corrosion as well as their excellent structural integrity. So, on the Westport 130, this means that the one-piece deck mold integrates the deck, coamings, seat bases, hot tub and other items. This translates into lower maintenance, longer service life, fewer haul-outs … and more time on the water! In addition, Westports are light, fast and fuel efficient.

So, it’s no surprise that Westport’s had a busy year. Already, they’ve delivered seven hulls, including three Pacific Mariner 85s, two Westport 112s and a Westport 164 (Harmony). Westport already has orders on the books for two more hulls taking delivery next year.
