Yacht of the Week: Princess Grace 70 Foot Hatteras Yacht

Our yacht of the week this week is Princess Grace, a 70 Foot Hatteras Yacht built in 1989. But don’t let her age fool you. Princess Grace is every inch an homage to the luxury and style from a bygone era of American yachts, and the class and elegance of the beloved princess and film star for which she is named!

Since 1959 Hatteras Yachts has been a leading builder of luxury motor yachts and sportfishing convertibles. Long known for a combination of design technology that does not skimp on luxury and aesthetics, Hatteras Yachts are among some of the most popular in the world. Tough and durable as the residents of the Cape they are named for, Hatteras Yachts are built to last and hold their value for a long time.

Built to accommodate up to 8 guests in a four stateroom arrangement, this Hatteras 70 foot yacht is a rare find in today’s market. Combining classic styling with modern upgrades, her present owner bought her in 2009, just after a she underwent a complete refit.

Since then, the current owner transformed the main deck and Flybridge area to be more consistent with modern sensibilities for entertaining and dining. He also transformed the Galley into an open area as part of the main salon, a feature found on later model Hatteras motor yachts, putting a much more modern spin on this classic beauty.

Special Features of this Hatteras 70 Motor Yacht

The current owners have spared no expense in upgrading and modernizing this yacht. Princess Grace’s layout includes, a main salon that features an L shaped sofa, with a large cushioned ottoman/table and a chaise lounge.  To starboard is a fixed bench seat followed by a large cabinet with the entertainment center, a popup TV, wine cooler and icemaker.  Next forward behind a custom stainless steel railing are steps to the Master Cabin, Office and Engine Room.

But, the most dramatic change from when she was built, is the new open Galley arrangement similar to that of a 75’ Hatteras.  The transformation orchestrated by her restaurateur owner is both functional and breathtaking!
