Running on Empty | 60' 2009 Sunseeker

Upon entering the main salon of "Running on Empty", one can't help but be struck by the view: the elegant cherry wood cabinetry; the light oak-colored Amtico flooring, glistening in its newness; and the abundance of perfectly-sized settees, all covered in weeks-old high-grade tan leather. The salon on this 60 Sunseeker is what happens when an owner has both an oversized budget and access to talented interior designers.

To port in the salon, is the yacht's entertainment center, featuring a retractable Samsung flat screen TV and bar area (complete with custom holders for glassware & bottles). Opposite the TV is a U-shaped, leather-draped sofa with seating for six. A fold-away, origami-like wooden table centers the sofa, serving as a simple bar table or a full-fledged dining table. Ringing the lower salon are five double-cubed Bose speakers.

Moving up two stairs to the upper salon, one will find a slightly-curved sofa just to port of the lower helm station. Nearly perpendicular to this sofa is yet another two-seat sofa. All told, there is seating for eleven in Running on Empty's main salon. But it's not just about the entertainment space or even the evident good taste that makes this salon what it is; it's also about how pristine everything is - the upholstery, headliners & wall liners, and of course the tastefully-done flooring, all look far more like those on a 2018 model than a 2009 one.

Found belowdecks is the galley and three luxuriously-appointed staterooms. The galley manages to be both minimalist, and predictably sophisticated in its design, while still having all of the functionality of a top-notch home kitchen. A two-burner Empava induction cooktop centers the port-side white granite countertop. Below that is a high-end, super sleek LG microwave. A stainless steel sink, Miele dishwasher, and full-sized GE refrigerator & freezer round out the galley's appliances. Ample cherry wood cabinetry means that there will be more than enough storage space for even the most ambitious of Bahamas trips.

Aft of the galley lies Running on Empty's ensuite master stateroom. A queen sized bed, clad in Running on Empty's signature tan leather, and a brand new ($4,000!) white leather headboard centers this cabin. To starboard is a writer's desk with vanity and multiple cabinets. To port is a two-person sofa in that same tan leather - Connolly Leather, to be precise - that graces the rest of the yacht. Forward to port of the Master's bed is a flat screen LG TV. The ensuite head features a full-sized shower and the same new flooring found in the salon.

Just forward of the Master Stateroom is yet more storage, both to port & starboard. Opposite the galley is the guest cabin, featuring two twin beds, a flat-screen LG TV, and two Alpine flush-mount speakers. A large rectangular mirror sits on the aft wall of the guest cabin. An oversized hanging closet, covered in full-length mirror, and cabinets built into both beds, means that even the smallest cabin has tons of storage space. The guest cabin is rendered ensuite by having direct access to the day head.

The day head features a full-sized shower, Tecma toilet, and a delightfully-shaped porcelain sink. Wood, new flooring, stainless steel, and porcelain are the hallmarks of the day head.

All the way forward in the guest quarters is the aptly-named ensuite VIP cabin. A beautifully-appointed, raised double bed (with cabinet storage beneath) sits regally in wait as one enters this stateroom. To port is the head, with the same look & feel of the day head. There are two large hanging closets to port & starboard. Coupled with several cabinets that line the walls above the VIP's portholes, this stateroom will not be lacking in places to keep guests' belongings properly stowed away.
