ACCOMMODATIONS
OVERWIEW:
Built in Wanchese, NC, by legendary Buddy Davis and sons, KEE-MERE is just what a smart off-shore fisherman might ask for. The sharp entry transitions to a moderate 14-degree deadrise at the transom, affording a quick time to plane, improved fuel economy and excellent lateral stability. And in anything less than a gale, that Carolina flare really keeps the spray down.
With a set of MTU M91 engines rated at 2,000 HP, she cruises at 33 knots and tops out at 40 knots. Perhaps the most impressive aspect of the 68 is how well it maneuvers at speed. With the advantage of standard-issue power-assist steering, one finger leans the 68 into a tight, banking turn, accomplishing a 180-degree change of heading in several boat lengths. It spins, backs straight, and performs all those other fishy maneuvers without any idiosyncrasies. It does seem to enjoy a slightly better speed (and ride) by adding a few degrees of the stainless-steel recessed tabs.
ACCOMODATIONS
KEE-MERE features a four-stateroom/four-head arrangement. Two of the starboard cabins come equipped with over/under singles, while the master stateroom to port amidships and the VIP guest quarters in the bow both offer queen-size island berths – with storage underneath.
INTERIOR:
The salon features teak wood veneer with eucalyptus inserts, carpet flooring with additional padding and runners for protection and tinted and tempered glass windows with Hunter Douglas solid teak valances and Silhouette blinds. Custom ultra-leather sofas with pneumatic lifting seats with storage underneath and the custom release marine coffee table allow for a comfortable entertainment area.
The galley against the forward bulkhead features a breakfast bar, a custom release marine table, L-shaped upholstered dinette with storage, Sub-Zero refrigerator, and freezer drawers, and both ceramic cooktop and microwave/convection oven. Flooring consists of teak and holly amtico strips.
OWNER’S STATEROOM:
The owner’s suite features a king walk-around bed with electric lift ram storage underneath, with an upholstered bunk rail and headboard and custom spring mattress. The room has carpeted flooring and vinyl headliner throughout. There are cedar-backed hanging lockers with automatic lighting.
The en-suite has ample built-in storage compartments and drawers, vinyl wall covering, teak and holly amtico flooring and Silestone countertops with designer sink and faucet. The shower is a large fiberglass stall with safety glass door and seating, with Moen and slide-bar shower heads.
GUEST STATEROOMS:
The VIP stateroom has a centerline queen bed, with upholstered bunk rail and headboard, and a foam mattress. There is a large cedar-lined hanging locker with automatic lighting, carpeting throughout and an ensuite.
Starboard are the forward and aft guest staterooms, with over and under berths with foam mattresses, carpeting throughout, vinyl headliners and wall coverings, and cedar-backed hanging lockers with automatic lighting.
The starboard guest staterooms share the companionway head, with teak and holly amtico flooring, vinyl headliner and wall coverings, Silestone countertops with designer sink and faucets and medicine cabinet with mirrored doors. The shower stall has a safely glass door and a slide bar shower head.
COCKPIT
Laid with teak cockpit sole and coverboards, a mezzanine teak deck with cushioned seating with ample tackle storage underneath. Center is the Release Marine teak fighting chair with offset pedestal and rocket launcher back. There is a large stern fish box plumbed for a live well, and custom live well on both port and starboard, fresh and salt water washdown systems and an insulated ice dump to starboard mezzanine step.
FLYBRIDGE:
This 68 sports a traditional flybridge layout with centerline helm, portside companion seat, wraparound seating via an L-shaped settee to port with a drop in freezer, and a straight bench to starboard.
TUNA TOWER:
Added is the Palm Beach Towers tuna tower with moulded top 68’ convertible 10’ gap, polished pipe hardtop lights (6), 12 systems with fiberglass recess tri-color (blue, white and red), a bullet style radar pod, an electric fold-down instrument box, moulded standing platform with coupler box on platform, tower sunshade moulded, rod holders, electric teaser reels, bridge ladder, custom teak steps.
COCKPIT:
The mezzanine deck on the 68 provides seating, under-seat storage, an insulated baitwell/drink box, a freezer and the walk-in engine access. On the other side of the huge cockpit is an insulated transom fish box and a tuna door. You’ll also find space for mop and gaff storage, shore-power cable, fresh- and saltwater washdown outlets (found in the engine room, flybridge and anchor locker as well) and dockside hook-ups for cable and water.
