Overview

This stunning, custom built, 80’ Burger defies her age in all respects. Designed by Don O’Keefe of the Burger Boat Company for an experienced marine industry owner who wanted a yacht of a size he could easily handle with a high-end contemporary interior. LAID BACK was built in 1989 and spent the first part of her life cruising. In 2008 she underwent a very extensive restoration which included stripping her paint and fairing down to bare metal, as well as installing new teak decks. She was purchased in the spring of 2021 by her present owners, a very knowledgeable, detail oriented couple who have, subsequently, made significant upgrades to her: new Bradford sun-shade top making her upper helm station a viable and comfortable place from which to drive; total rebuild of MAN D2842 LYE engines; upgraded electronics, new AccuTech props more suitable to the engine model's horsepower and torque. Additional maintenance and upgrades are described in the following listing spec sheet.

LAID BACK’s beautiful, contemporary interior of Bird’s Eye Maple joinery with purple mahogany trim is not only unique but is in superb condition. Her teak decks show very little signs of wear. Her machinery and systems are in excellent working order. Without question, LAID BACK is ready to cruise with a new owner.

Remarks

LAID BACK has had the in-depth, no-nonsense, nuts and bolts care that many yachts haven’t had. In addition to having had hands-on owners, she has had a full-time captain and mate aboard her since the spring of 2021. Sadly, due to family demands, the owners have now had to abort their original plan to live and cruise extensively aboard their yacht.

LAID BACK will afford a new owner the opportunity to immediately enjoy a proper, pedigree yacht without the usual list of work needed. This is an exceptional chance for someone wanting to cruise immediately wherever the spirit moves them.
