If you’re going to name a yacht model after a nuclear-tipped intermediate-range ballistic missile, it better be fast. Really fast. Fortunately for Pershing Yachts, their vessels deliver in spades as far as speed goes. Take “Hurricane #1”, a 2012 64’ Pershing, for example. She cruises at 42 knots and tops out at blistering 46 knots, courtesy of twin MTU 1623 HP engines (with less than 600 hours on them). That turns the trip from Fort Lauderdale to Bimini into a barely-time-for-lunch kind of excursion. In her case, though, speed is just a part of the equation.

Hurricane #1 also happens to be extremely clean, thanks to a lifetime of being properly cared for. She has never wanted for maintenance or touch-ups, when needed. That’s why when her exterior started to lose a tiny bit of its luster, she was immediately sent for a full paint job. When a component is functioning anything less than perfectly, it’s replaced – like Hurricane #1’s stern thruster was in late 2017.
