“A breath of fresh air to the yachting scene, Zeelander is a result of one man’s forward driving vision for an easy-operating quality build with innovation, head-turning yet classic design, extreme comfort, easy maintenance and luxury as primary considerations.
After eight years of relentless testing, the Zeelander Z44 came to fruition in Holland thanks to the Dutch dream team of naval architect Frank Mulder and superyacht designer Cor D. Rover.
After an exhaustive search, Zeelander serendipitously found an appropriate yard in April 2011 to produce the Z44 and subsequent builds, Tiara’s production facility in Holland, Michigan, where sea trials are undertaken on the Great Lakes. Here the company found diverse suppliers, a highly skilled workforce and a storied history of building great yachts (also with a Dutch past).
The Z44 has been elegantly transporting owners and their esteemed guests in the toniest of locations such as Ocean Reef, Greenwich, Connecticut and of course, Palm Beach. Her beautifully contoured lines and unique metallic colors demonstrate her aesthetic appeal. Ample seating on the main deck and wheelhouse allow for engaging entertaining while in port or at sea. Below decks, a surprising two cabins accommodate guests in a master and VIP, with a shared head. Head room in some areas is 6’8”!
With her twin standard Volvo Penta IPS 500s (375hp) with pod propulsion, the Zeelander Z44 will reach maximum speeds of 30 to 34 knots. With optional Volvo Penta IPS 600 (435hp), she’ll top 38 knots and cruise at 28 knots. Her cruise range is about 300 to 400 nm. Sound levels can run as low as 64 decibels at cruise speeds, even with the open bridge deck. Her draft is a mere 3’, and her beam a generous 13’2”.
Originally built for the fastidious owner of Zeelander, the 68 offers a big step up for those in the Zeelander 44 or for those interested in a sophisticated, head turning motoryacht that’s quiet and comfortable and easy to operate and maintain in this range.
The beam of the 68 is almost 20 feet with a draft of about 6.5 feet. She also sports iconic metallic paint on her hull and superstructure. A Koopnautic stabilizer system allows comfortable riding in rough seas.
The two upper decks are all about entertaining, and the wheelhouse combines the saloon, galley and lower helm with great views forward. A three-piece aft door opens up the full width of the saloon, inviting the outside in, assisted by large panoramic windows throughout this deck. There are four cabins (all queen-sized beds) below decks: ensuite master cabin aft and ensuite VIP cabin forward and two guest cabins that share a day head.
A remote controlled hatch on the fore deck reveals a Williams Tender with diesel water jet, Sea Doo RXT water craft and hydraulic tender crane. The stern platform is also remote controlled and integrates a swimming ladder.
The sound insulation and vibration control on the 68 is remarkable thanks to Sjaak van Cappellen. Zeelander’s 68 is powered by twin diesel MTU 8V2000M93s, 895 kW (1200 hp) @ 2450 rpm—providing maximum fuel efficiency. Joystick controls for the bow and stern thrusters and autopilot remote control come standard in both helms.
